Item... What do they know that we don't. By Susan c.

You (of course) neglected to metion that this took place in 1997 - not now. Also interesting to note that no names, dates, or company names were used - nothing could be verified. If I posted a story like this, I would be vilified for the lack of verifiable information. A doomer does it and heads nod sagely "we're in big, big trouble". What trite nonsense...

another typical post by our favorite idiot, Y2K Pro, who NEVER has anything constructive to add to this forum. How old are you, Y2K Pro, 12? 13? Why don't you go play a video game or something.

Y2KPro - my favorite example of the shunning of good news was a while back. I posted a link to TVA's site, where they gave a list of several power plants that were running with all computers and equipment set forward to past 1/1/2000. Was this considered a valid test? Was it considered meaningful? Did I get gloomer spin up to my eyeballs? Of course I did - what did you expect.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a societal "backlash" against anyone who even remotely has a programming background. "The witches of the 21st century".

Amused:

Y2K Pro made a dead-accurate comment about the wildly different standards of evidence the doomers apply. If you don't feel such criticism is constructive, try dropping the double standard, eh?

but of course!we BELIEVE y2k will be terrible, and we BELIEVE that industry and government is not being honest about the level of impending trouble.the burden of proof is on you because you've gate- crashed a Y2K PREPARATION FORUM!the burden would be on us if we were crashing a y2k-IS-NO-PROBLEM-GOVERNMENT-AND INDUSTRY-NEVER -LIES forum, sheesh!how much of what goes on here is an attempt to reach a common ground, anyway?dispense with the incredulity, and quit whining
