Lithium Ion batteries for Toshiba PDR-M3

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Anybody know where one can purchase Lithium Ion batteries for the Toshiba PDR-M3?

Also, how long do these batteries tend to last in this camera (with and without the continual use of the LCD), and what is their shelf life?

Thanks.

DO NOT buy NiMHs for use with a PDR-M3! According to Toshiba's web site the Toshiba PDR-M3 makes use of a single RECHARGEABLE Li-Ion battery. They list Fuji NP-100 as being the part number of the battery. Do a search for PDR-M3 accessories or just search for the NP-100. I imagine one comes with the camera and probably has to be recharged in the camera as Fuji did with the MX-700. They also have an external charger available for the battery used in the MX-700 (possibly the NP-100???) I imagine the same one or a similar model will be made available for the PDR-M3's battery.

I'd try going to www.cnet.com and trying the search function on their shopping page as a good general starting point. You can get dealer info, pricing, and often availability and shipping charges.b

Gerald's right on this one: The PDR-M3 uses a special battery. Otherwise, I would recommend NiMHs, but in this case, you have to get what the camera uses. - As Gerald suggested, try searching on NP-100 online. Of our advertisers, State Street Direct seems to do a pretty good job of stocking accessories, so they may carry the batteries. (It's the same unit, used by the PDR-M3 and the Fuji MX-600, essentially the same cameras. - Hence, either Toshiba or Fuji dealers should have it.)

Dear Deborah,

I want to buy a Fuji MX-600Z this summer so I've done a little research on this. The MX-600Z and the PDR-M3 appear to be knock-offs of each other and they both use the same Fuji NP-100 Li-Ion battery. The best price I found was from www.buy.com. The list price on this battery is about $100 but buy.com had it for $44 when I checked about a week ago. Let me know what you think of your PDR-M3.
