What astrologers predict about Y2Kgreenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread
If it's true, as some believe, that astrologers are merely good social psychologists who use knowledge and intuition together with various astrological portents to make their predictions, then it follows that the forecasts of such astute observers of human nature ought to be pretty close to what the middle-grounders on the forum believe. Here are some quotes--you decide.
"NZ Pluto sq A - Suggests the beginning of ground shaking problems by midnight, Auckland.
CET countries - Moon parallel Jupiter - Suggests EU countries such as Holland may have cosmic protection.
Wall Street - Moon opposite Saturn
By midnight New York and the Time Square millennium celebration, many people may not be happy.
Neptune conjunct South Node - Suggests dissolving computer ties.
Sun trine Saturn - Renewed world seriousness.
Jupiter = Sun/A/M//Moon/Saturn - This picture of Sun, Asc and MH in midpoint with Moon Saturn (All 4 personal points) says watch Jupiter (YOUR WEALTH).
Saturn counter parallel Mars+Pluto - As we said, don't fly etc.
Helio Mercury conjunct Pluto - A transformation in world thinking. Perhaps this could be a disaster like the Titanic that points to man's hubris and the fallibility of technology.
Helio Venus opposite Mars (separating) - Not as much fun these days!"
"In fairness to Y2K, it is possible to imagine a scenario where the Y2K problem is the manifestation of the two challenging planetary alignments. The grand cross to the eclipse in August of 1999 could be the big run on banks many predict, and the May 2000 giant square could be further difficulties to do with a collapse due to Y2k. The other problems and threats outlined within this work will not go away due to Y2K. Problems and confusion due to Y2K would only make the other threats more likely and more serious."
http://www.allastar.com/thebig.htm "On August eleventh, 1999, there will be an eclipse at 18 degrees of Leo. An eclipse has always been considered a portent of difficulty.
. . . Not only do we have a grand cross with an eclipse, so that both the Sun and Moon, the two main astrological influences, are affected, the three other planets involved are considered malefic, planets that often bring problems. Saturn will be in the fixed sign Taurus squaring Uranus in the fixed sign Aquarius, which squares Mars in the fixed sign Scorpio. All these planets are square or opposition to our Leo eclipse. . . . This eclipse promises to be an especially difficult one.
. . . I do not see how it would serve us to believe that the end of the world will come on August 11, 1999. Surely, this is the least likely possibility imaginable.
Between May 4th and May 18th, in the year 2000, there will be a highly unusual alignment of all but one of the visible planets in the sign of Taurus, with Mars just out of Taurus in Gemini. When this takes place we will have an unprecedented combination of both astrological and scientific/physical potentialities. . . . potential. . . to create powerful changes in what is ruled by the sign Taurus - property, possessions, the World's financial systems, and the Earth herself. The potential for difficulty comes from the hard square aspect given to the Taurus planets by the planet Uranus that will be in Aquarius.
. . . [W]e had one a little over a decade ago of similar strength. Then we had the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune all in the sign Capricorn, the sign ruling governmental structure, among other things. This alignment, highlighted by Saturn conjunct Neptune and then Uranus conjunct Neptune in Capricorn, brought far reaching changes - changes that left the world much different and changes that altered the fortunes of whole nations of people.
This, of course, was the period of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the Soviet Union and empire. The changes were far-reaching and profound, certainly historic and world altering. Tens of millions of people were thrown into poverty during this change and crisis, but as there were no challenging squares to this configuration, the changes were more or less peaceful.
These two major alignments, both coming within six months before and after the turn of the millennium, have the power, from an astrological standpoint, to leave the world very different. . . . Within both of these configurations the major aspect is Saturn, the planet of karma, difficulties, hardships, responsibilities and lessons, square Uranus, the planet of revolution, inventions, science, breakthroughs, humanitarian ideals, sudden and unexpected events, accidents, and change. The natures of Uranus and Saturn are very different, as Saturn limits and restricts and is very conservative in nature, and Uranus rules breakthroughs, the unusual, and is very revolutionary. This square can bring unexpected events or accidents that are very difficult and yet meant to teach us something. Whatever these aspects bring, we can be sure that they portend difficult times and hard lessons.'
"For once in my thIRty-year career, however, I AM paying attention to an eclipse in a big way. Ths one is actually a Fixed Grand Cross, with Sun and Moon in 18 Leo, Uranus at 14 Aquarius, Saturm at 16 Taurus, and Mars at 16 Scorpio. The combination speaks to me of social and financial puheaval and I can only imagine that it would be related to the onset of the Year 2000 computer problem, which knowledgeable people expect to begin months before the actual Millennium."

Where do you pull this stuff?? The bit below caught my eye, pretty close to the GPS rollover. Not that I expect anything earthshaking. Some older ship equiment might go but they can usually find their way around. Got to wonder though, there is timing equipment involved for remote locations and entities that need exact timing. We will find out. By the way the Archive is updated and has TONS of gardening stuff :o) Might try some Tomatoes

Fascinating, thanks Old Git, being a Taurean myself it looks like I have a lot going on in 2000, however it turns out :)

"Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it."

I take it you're a Leo then :)))

The Three Wise Men, who found the location of Christ's birth and proclaimed him the Savior--weren't they said to be astrologers?
