Organic Gardening supplies - my cat. has $20 gift cert on it...

Hello!

I want to do my little part in adding helpful posts to help counter some of the name calling exercises. Was just reading a catalog tonight from Gardens Alive 812-537-8650 and they have a good selection of organic supplies. They also have a $20 gift cert on the cover which can simply be applied to an order of $20 or more. Expires 5-29-1999 so call for the catalog asap.

Thank you, Old Git for digging through the O.G. issues and sharing pertinent info., I will try to start doing the same with my resources.

Good night.

I've been getting this catalogue for several years now but have been reluctant to order because of the "Amazing Results!" sort of style. I'm tempted, though. Has anyone ordered from these folks--if so, please let us know re quality and service.

Banks have "good results" if you do the necessary in time.

Gardens Alive! is a great place to buy stuff....we used the grasshopper bait in our orchard and saved our whole 30 tree planting from defoliation. Used the orchard spray, too. Their products work...stay organic!

I have ordered from Gardens Alive, because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that their products really are organic (and, hey, sometimes there is that $20 free purchase). But I really dislike their unwillingness to state the composition of their products, for instance the NPK balance of their fertilizers. Their products may be legit, but they use snakeoil techniques to sell them.

Hi All,

I'm not sure organic gardeners pay much attention to NPK for their fertilizers. They're more interested in the micro-organisms and such. (Get the book "Secrets of the Soil" by Tompkins and Bird for history and details. It's fascinating reading.)
