is it true that to shut down a nuke plant it takes three to four months to cool the core? if this is true then if we see nukes off line in july ,which is their compliance cutoff date, then can we anticipate a power shortage next year?

No, it doesn't. Nuclear plants do refueling outages where the fuel is unloaded into a open pool and reloaded back into the core in 15 days.

No, it doesn't. Nuclear plants do refueling outages where the fuel is unloaded into a open pool and reloaded back into the core in 15 days. The plant is only off line for 18 days.
