There is an excellent article written by a vet in the June issue of Cat Fancy magazine on nutrition. He states that "light" or "less active" foods can keep a cat from gaining more weight but do not help in weight reduction. Special diets available thru your vet are more likely to be effective. Sigh - I can attest to this - my 15 year old neuter has been on a combo of less active and senior foods, and hasn't lost a ounce!! But he hasn't gained anymore, either. Cats should never be put on a strict diet without vet supervision as it can cause a liver disease. See what your vet has to offer in diet foods.
