Digicam with studio lighting

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am looking for a prosumer digital camera that will work with studio lighting. The 950 sounds great; apeture priority, 2.1 million pixels, external flash sync, But does it work? I have a 900s that I can rig to fire my studio stuff, but the image quality is nothing I could sell. Anyone with experience using prosumer cameras cameras with studio lights? Any luck with the powershot pro 70, dc 265, or cp 950. Any info or advice would be of incalculable help. TIA Scott

Don't have experience with studio strobes, but the Oly C-2000 has 1/3 f-stop control on the aperture, which is finer than the Nikon's. Either the C-2000 or 950 should give better pics than your CP900, but there's a good bit of debate over this just now. (Hopefully will shake out once we can do a comparison of production units side-by-side.) As to what you can sell, you're the only person who will know that... (Try downloading some of the many sample images that are showing up from the CP950 and C-2000 Zoom on line, and see what you think based on them.)
