Calling all Okies (Greybear, I'm jealous)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Greybear's post has me green with envy. I can't get to the Texas meeting unless it's far north Texas but I would like to put together a get together here in OK. Cannot-say-@-this-time and Paladin-I see you're from my fair state, want to meet? How about 'brunch' on a Saturday in OKC? Let me know. Of course, other-than-Okies are welcome as well. Linda

Linda,

I would LOVE to get together. In fact, there is a meeting on the evening of the 4th of May somewhere in town. Read about it on the Y2KOK listserve. If you are interested, let me know, and I'll post the details.

Donna:

Y2KOK? Details would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda

PS Looking forward to meeting you.

Hey! I'm in OK. Can't make it to OKC easily. Could you email me? We're having a heck of a time getting anyone interested in preparing. We know of only one other person in our town who is taking y2k seriously, and we're floundering. There may be one other couple we know in the OKC area, but we haven't been able to contact them in the past month. Please, email me.

Linda and Helen, Go to www.onelist.com and do a search for Y2K. It will show you a list of Y2K listserves. Or you could just put in Y2KOK for the search. You have to enter your real e-mail as it is all done via email. I have never posted there yet, but will probably start sometime soon. The main members are outside of Tulsa, so Helen if you are there you could make come contacts that way. When I log into my e-mail I will get the details and post.

If a compliant Alaskan moves to Oklahoma from Arkansas, does he become an OKAKOKARAN?

-- Robert A. Cook, PE (Kennesaw, GA) (cook.r@csaatl.com), April 30, 1999.

No, Robert, he becomes a house-boy. ;)

-- Helen (sstaten@fullnet.net), April 30, 1999.

Besides waiting with, as they say, baited breath to hear Robert's response to Helen, I though I share a little news with my Okie cousins.

Looks like we're going to have a North Texas get together on the weekend of May22nd. Haven't got the exact spot picked yet but it will definetly be "up" here somewhere. We sure want to extend the invitation to y'all.

Graybear,

If I can get there, I will. Will you post a thread later on the when and where? We need guidance. (And a compliant Alaskan houseboy.)

-- Helen (sstaten@fullnet.net), May 01, 1999.

I am wondering with which way he is compliant - and whether he is glad to bend over backwards so as to be head-over-heels, until he heals, or until he complains.....or is his state of compliant complacency subject to independent V&V.

(verification and validation - you pervert!).

Robert,

We would welcome an engineer into our fold to determine the best fold for the houseboy.

Donna-checked the Y2KOK site like you said, I saw no mention of a May 4 meeting. If you have details I would appreciate it, if not, can we set a date?

Mr. Cook-are you saying that you are an Okie at present? A former Arkansawan? A reformed Alaskan? Whatever you are, I'd be honored to meet you.

Helen-sent you an e-mail. Sometimes an unpopular conviction can be a lonesome conviction as well. But, cheer up, you have lots of company here, even if it is only in type. I assure you, I do have a face to go along with my posts.

Greybear-thank you for the gracious invite. Where abouts are ya'll meetin'?

Any other Okies or interested parties-How about a Saturday brunch the third weekend in May?

Linda

Brunch the third weekend in May! Where? (Got your email and responded.)

-- Helen (sstaten@fullnet.net), May 01, 1999.

Linda and Helen,

I looked in my e-mail for the place where they were meeting in OKC. The info wasn't on the Y2KOK web site at onelist. You could always subscribe to the list and not post if you don't want all of the people to know your e-mail. There isn't that much traffic (about 60 messages since Thursday!)

I will look tomorrow and try to post the info, if not, I'll inquire as to where the meeting is and will post in the am on Monday. Can't wait to meet you!

Linda,

I replied to your email, but it bounced!

Third week in May is the 22nd. I will be attending the armadillofest with all them texans. Some other time would be good. Since this is the 4th, won't be able to make the meeting tonight. Sorry

-- Paladin (HaveGun@Will.Travel), May 03, 1999.

That Traveling Alaskan would become an ALARKOMAN, wouldn't he?

-- Paladin (HaveGun@Will.Travel), May 03, 1999.

The meeting is Tuesday evening, not Monday evening.

-- (cannot-say@this.time), May 03, 1999.

Ooops, OK I'll see how tomorrow lines up. Maybe I can make that.

-- Paladin (HaveGun@Will.Travel), May 03, 1999.

Okies-Sorry I let the ball drop on this idea. I've been too busy to do any further organizing. I think I will have more time in about a week to come up with some ideas. In the meantime, if any of you want to put something together, be my guest. Back to the Red Cross today, Linda
