Could someone please tell me what the term "dirty power" means? Thank you.

Margaret, According to my electrician friend, the term "dirty power" refers to power that is "not clean" (i.e. it is intermittent; up, then down; has surges and spikes; and is basically not as reliable as you need it to be). Regards, Tom

Correct me if I am worng, but I understant that in addition, you must add RFI, or Radio Frequency Intereference. I remember a number of years ago when this was interpreted as data by certain computers, causing them to do some very stange things. I'm sure that the power is normally much "cleaner" today, however, in the early 80's there were special power "cleaning" units which solved these problems.
