I took note of the author, 'ol Ambrose Evans Pritchard. If you haven't already, you gotta read this one:

The Secret Life of Bill Clinton : The Unreported Stories by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard

Read that article all the way to the end. This is from the Daily Telegraph in the UK, which I believe is a fairly conservative paper. Isn't it interesting how differently the foreign media treat certain "American" topics, in this case the militias:

The emergence of a spontaneous militia movement involving 100,000 people, in the world's only superpower, is one of the most stunning cultural developments of the post-Cold War era. Caught off-guard, the US media fell for cliches about "black helicopters" and were deceived into thinking that deranged radio hosts such as Mark Koernke epitomised the movement.

It is now clear that the militias are a civic network of Americans with a high degree of political awareness, resisting the apathy and lassitude of an atomised, television society. One day, perhaps, historians will come to regard some of them as better people than their critics.

I suspect that many people reading this article may take some time and reconsider their views on militias. I number myself in that group, having accepted a great deal of what the US media have published in this regard. I shall endeavour to be a bit more critical in my thinking on this topic.

Seemed consistent with Arlin's writings posted on this forum.

Gotta watch them DLI grads, eh? :-)

I thought that was an excellent article. I wish our mainstream media would do a little research and objective reporting before they brand all patriotic Americans as Nazi's and terrorist. The militia movement is about ONE thing. Protecting the American constitution and way of life from ALL enemies foreign or domestic.

Ain't gonna happen, Nik. One of those domestic enemies IS the media.

Not to mention the king----er, Prez.

The wolf, in sheep's clothing that has sprung up from among us to deliver us to destruction.

er, well, yeah, that's me...hope that didn't weird anybody out too badly... For the record: AEP is a great guy who is both smart and has a fair amount of courage - especially when we got up to the block in which the guy lived (we put up a poster at the end of the block)...AEP hung right with us, even when we realized that there was a meeting going on at the house while we were in the neighborhood.

and yeah, Critt you're right - DLI has produced more, er, original thinkers than the government would probably care to acknowledge...

a couple more points, if I might:

'the militia' isn't some nebulous national group - it's folks just like you. Men and women who slowly, and mostly quietly, are organizing to insure the absolute failure of any attempt at destruction of our civil rights. There really isn't anything resembling a national level structure - though there are any number of wannabes on the internet who would attempt to claim otherwise. More importantly - the whole point of such organizations: community support and protection mitigates *against* a national level structure. Only the people in your community have an adiquate understanding of *all* of your communities needs and goals...and only you can insure that those needs and goals are met. It's up to you.

Also, remember that not all communities are going to be like your community. If there's one thing that becomes really obvious to even casual readers of this forum it's that the views expressed here exemplify the diverse nature of America in the 1990's. So organize, prepare, but remember to be careful - since not everybody who is organizing and preparing, whatever they may call themselves, are compatible with you.

just my 2 cents' worth,

Arlin

Arlin.

The more I read you, the more I like you. It would not be possible for me to agree more with the above statements.

Don't look like I will be seeing you. Charon
