GUNS Can you help me with this?

Please help before this gets anymore out of hand! With all the talk about gun regulations and the new wave of lawsuits against the gun manufactures, we all need to make it a point to contact at least one public official, judge, prosecutor or anyone else involved in these cases every day. The pace seems to really be stepping up lately in the movement to separate us from, or to put more restrictions on guns. Below is a sample letter, I hope you will consider sending something like this each and every day. Thanks

Dear Mr./Mrs.___________(mayor, congressman, judge, prosecutor etc.)

Continuing to place more regulations on guns to solve current problems of our society is starting to become an insult to my intelligence. Please try to remember that with all the talk about a few screwed up people that cause problems with guns, there are millions of others that enjoy the sport of hunting and/or shooting that do not cause any problems. Before you consider any gun control regulations aimed at the general public, I ask that you first insist on having all senators, congressman, mayors, judges, prosecutors, their staffs, bodyguards, or anyone else involved in the legislative process, first give up all of their guns as a show of good faith. We the people are demanding that you lead us by example first, then ask us to consider further regulation of ourselves. We will not accept anymore of the do as I say and not as I do attitude from you or any other official. There is not anyone of you that has anymore right to armed protection then we do. We all know that the only way any to solve any social problem is to start with this generation of children andwellyou know the rest. When President Clinton started his 100,000 new police for America campaign maybe he should have put 100,000 guidance counselors in the schools at the elementary level, trained to spot potential problems in, and help children and their parents who may not even realize there is something wrong in the first place. I also ask that you as a citizen start contacting others concerning this issue with you support.

Just today, two new school shootings: one in England & one in Alberta, Canada -- both countries with strict gun-control.

I have 2 problems with this. First, the right to own guns should be based on political theory, not sports. Second, placing 'counselors' everywhere to 'spot' problem children sound like 1984 or Brave New World to me.

We've had a couple of bomb threats here in Miami. Fl at schools.....

First; todays form of political theory doesnt seem to be working. Second; Im certainly not suggesting we have a national clearinghouse of federal counselors You must be the kind of person that thinks I meant that President Clinton placed 100,000 secret police when I mentioned his campaign to add 100,000 new police to the nation Of course not! The campaign was for the FUNDING! I am suggesting that we use and expand the resources that we have available to us in every community right now, and place our attention on the real problems of society. Was there something wrong with suggesting that we try to improve things on the elementary level of our school system? This could be accomplished in many ways, please do not close your mind with a flash in the pan conspiracy theory. Just saying that social change usually starts with education.

Big Guy -- I appreciate your concern, but it's not about duck shooting and deer hunting. It's whether or not the citizenry has the means to defend itself against a rapacious government -- "ours" or an external one.

This "sport" and "hunting" blather by NRA and others avoids -- pussyfoots around -- the real issue.
