I have so many questions....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

First, a little background...

I was raised by non-religious parents (they had been baptized as children, but did not attend any church). I have never been baptized. I married, in a Church of God, (in which I was not a member) to a man who was not religious. We had one child, then divorced. I am now married to a Catholic. We have attended church together, but since we have moved so frequently, (Army) we have not formally joined any church. I want to become a Catholic, but I have no idea what all would need to be done. We have just moved to a new town where we are planning to stay, and there are a couple of Catholic churches, but I have no idea where to start.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm glad to hear of your interest in the Catholic Church. What you should do first is visit the local churchs together and see if you feel right in one of them. Try to make it there then every Sunday. You can always attend Mass but cannot receive Communion until you have completed some instructions in the Catholic Faith. Don't worry it's not hard God will guide you it will just take a little time.

You may want to get one of the following books to start with.

In His Light--Fr. Anderson

Catholic and Christian--Alan Schreck

Why Do Catholics DO That?--Kevin Johnson,Ph.D.

We Believe...--Oscar Lukefahr, C.M.

Take your time reading and then start aksing about RCIA.

If you have any questions about what you are reading you can post them here.

In additition to the previous suggestions of reading various books etc., perhaps you could speak to a Catholic base Chaplain who could guide you through. With to-days methods of communications you should have no problems whatever. Also your loving husband I am sure would be willing to help.

Peace And Well Being.
