Response to why pope live in ROME?

For you and any others that may be interested.

The Pope is in Rome because that is the final See of Peter. Who the Pope is the successor of in that See.

The primary role of the Pope is that of visable unity ALL full Christians accept the office of the Pope as the visable leader of Christians guided by Christ himself and acting on befalf of Christ on earth.

There were a number of them over the last 2000 years you would have to look them up in a list of Popes.

The popes are chosen by the Cardinals who are under the age of 80 I think, They are guided by the Holy Spirit in the choice.

Response to why pope live in ROME?

Originally the Pope was called the BISHOP OF ROME. The Schism was a breakaway from other Christian traditions that stated that the 'Pope' should head all of the church and that he is never wrong. Other churches broke away from this.

The primacy of the Bishop of Rome (and hence the title Pope) reflects the belief that Peter (the apostle) spent much of his life preaching in Rome and died there. The Pope is supposed to be descended from Peter.
