2-8-2 Loco Pilots

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Central of Georgia Railway Historical Soc : One Thread

Did the Central of Georgia 2-8-2 locomotives have the "road pilot" or the "footboard pilot"? If both styles were used, which road numbers (ie. #1820-1837) had "road pilots"? Athearn is scheduled to release their 2-8-2 USRA Light in the near future with either pilot optional.

The pictures I have of CG 2-8-2's are as follows: 571, 605, 612 & 637 have footboard pilots w/low headlights. 635,640, 653, 666, 642, & 659 have road pilots w/low headlights. The problem is that none of the pictures look anything like the photos I have of the Athearn 2-8-2. I was going to use the Athearn too but since I couldn't get a close match I'll wait. Someone may have a better match with other #'s. CG's were 571-580 and 601-667. I hope the new Bachmann 4-8-2 may be a good candidate to model as a CG steam loco.
