Have you no middle ground?

Dear Sir,

In an earlier post, I suggest a scale.

1. Idealist 2. Optimist 3. Realist 4. Pessimist 5. Survivalist 6. Fatalist

I think we will muddle through Y2K-related problems, but not without economic fallout. In fact, factors other than Y2K have begun to fray this long lived expansion. I think this puts me in the middle ground.

Regards,

Mr Decker is, (as usual), right on the money.

I'd only suggest the addition of two new classifications to his scale, plus a few amended terms.

NOTE: These amendments are proposed with a view to including (and accurately classifying) a considerable proportion of the posters to the most extreme Y2K sites, and even a few (admittedly rare) posters to this forum.

My amended scale runs like this . . .

1. No awareness of the issue (blissfully-unawareist!?) 2. Delusional- Utopianist 3. Optimist 4. Realist 5. Pessimist 6. Hardcore- Survivalist 7. Paranoid-Fatalist 8. Loony-tunes Paranoid-extremist.

Which still puts the much-esteemed K. Decker Esq. (and, I hope, myself) right slap bang in the middle at 4.

As a post-script, I cant help thinking that if there was a way to restrict this forum to those in classifications 3 thru 5, we'd get far more sense and far less noise.

Have a better one.

Well that's a grand idea, perhaps we could get John Koskinen to pre- read all post and delete those that don't meet government specifications. But hell, let's don't stop there, we'll round up all these whackos and show em who's really the boss. Friggin perverts trying to tell us the world aint flat, really getting on my nerves.

Maybee Mr.(censor/editor) Decker would consider the position.

I am too much of a fan of my own "free speech" to begin censorship. In my opinion, however, the best conversations are those in the middle of the spectrum. The survivalist/fatalist crowd spend a great deal of time worrying about the New World Order, stopping power and conspiracies. The idealist/optimist group seems terribly invested in every possible silver lining without considering the crowd. Perhaps we can start a 4 to 6 club? (laughter) Thank you for all the comments.
