I'm not sure how it is done, but I have a tobacco card from 1907 that shows one! I bet it takes even more care than a show coat and for that reason, I will leave it to someone else although I would love to see one up close and personal.

I can tell you that it is its own breed of dog. It's not like a standard poodle with corded hair or anything. They are a rare breed and the main number left are in France.

I am sure that they are not a special breed, the French just have a French name for them, which I believe means "corded poodle" in French. Anyway, check Amazon.com, I know they have a pretty impressive selection of poodle grooming books. Good luck!

Any poodle can be corded once the adult coat is in, you must not brush the coat and simply leave it to grow, cording is a natural effect that occurs visit http://www.royaume.com/~baladin/corde.htm for more info and some pictures. Chris
