Russia to help Yugoslavia by ground transport and by air.

MOSCOW, April 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia examines a possibility of delivering humanitarian aid to Yuoslavia by ground transport through Romania as well as by airlift, said here on Thursday to reporters Russian Minister for Emergencies Sergei Shoigu right after his meeting with President Boris Yeltsin in the Kremlin. The minister noted that he discussed with Yeltsin "new programmes of aid to all people suffering from the NATO aggression." Shoigu stressed that he means precisely all -- both Albanians and Serbs.

According to the minister, another plane will fly to Macedonia on April 16. A hospital for Montenegro will be fully equipped in one or two days. Trucks with humanitarian aid arrived in Serbia, and then some of them will be dispatched to Montenegro.

Turning to the situation which developed on the Hungarian border in connection with a delay of the Russian convoy with humanitarian goods for Yugoslavia, the minister noted that "Hungarians could not explain up to this time what the problem was".

Shoigu stressed that Hungary's actions "breached all norms of humanitarian law". He said that "all appropriate U.N. services" were informed of the situation on the Hungarian border by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Besides, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov held a conversation with the Hungarian ambassador in Moscow on this problem.

Russia Duma leader accuses West of Goebbels-like propaganda.

MOSCOW, April 15 (Itar-Tass) - A State Duma lower house leader on Thursday dubbed as "Goebbels-like propaganda" statements by Western politicians blaming Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic for the deaths of ethic-Albanian refugees under NATO bombs. "Lies are increasingly becoming the weapon of the Atlantic alliance," chairman of the Duma committee for international affairs Vladimir Lukin said.

Western politicians bogged down in the Yugoslavia conflict are "awkwardly trying to cover up their international gangsterism" by lying, Lukin said.

Wednesday's NATO bombing of a column of refugees in southern Kosovo was "a heinous crime" for which the West is trying to blame Milosevic because NATO and the U.S. are having difficulty ending the war without losing face.

Why doesn't Russia stay home and feed their own starving people? We send money to Russia and they then in turn spend it on stabbing us in the back. Personally, I resent giving Russia a dime. And if we are going to give them money it should be dollars for nukes and given through and to aid agenceys, not the gov't.

Taz,

You are woefully ignorant of the geopolitical chess game being played out.

You, I and the rest of the non-elites running the show...are just pawns being played for bigger stakes.

You or I won't figure in that game as this situation spreads.

We will be toast.

I suppose the Russians could finance this aid via New IMF /World Bank loans approved today

This whole Balkan deal smells way too much like 1965 in Southeast Asia. I've got a baaaad feeling about this one.

INVAR, You are exactly right. The new Stratfor GIU ends with the following:

"Washington and NATO are playing the great game in the Caucasus and Central Asia, without a doubt. They are also feuding with Russia over the situation in Yugoslavia. The wider game is only beginning... ...It is therefore striking that Washington would choose to increase tension in the Caucasus at the same time it is trying to decrease it in Europe."

This thing is getting way, way too hot! As discussed in Andy's previous thread "Clinton is Hitler...", it very well may wind up involving China and North Korea. Personally, I don't think those clowns in Washington are capable of solving this mess without a broader conflict.

...you've got a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad feeling about everything, that's why you're a gloomer. You might want to use logic instead of "feelings" next time. Might be nore productive...

What would you know about using logic, Y2K "Pro"? The only thing you are a Pro about is being a jackass.

Andy,

Why don't you post your political attacks on an appropriate forum such as The Government of the United States at http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a.tcl?topic=The%20Government%20o f%20the%20United%20States and then post a short reference on this forum with a link to your posting on the other forum?

No Spam.

Get a grip - what I am posting are not political attacks.

The only attacking going on is NATO at this moment in time.

No NO,

I fear you are correct here with these analyses of yours.

keep 'em coming.

I for one would like a heads up about what may be about to go down - I don't want to have my head stuck in the sand like many other folks on this forum who see life as a series of binary digits.

Sheesh!

According to WMAL AM radio 630 in Dee Cee (cringe/gag) at about 7:30 EST April 15th, either the US or NATO (don't remember) announced it will stop & check all ships in the Adriatic Sea for military supplies, including fuel. The folks at this mainstream Dee Cee station seemed quite concerned, describing the Russians as being "less than thrilled" by being stopped. WMAL likened this to the Cuban Missle Crisis.

Oddly, I have not seen this reported elsewhere. I wonder if it is true?
