Fast Company Article-Ilene Sorensen Speed Rules by Chuck Salter November 1998, pg. 186

CEO Peter Lewis has written Five rules on why speed maters. The rules were written for an insurance company. I feel they could be used in all businesses. The second one is especially important in extension. When people come in and want information, they want is quickly and not in two weeks. If the customer is dissatisfied, others will become dissatisfied--and soon there will be no business.

Rule No. 5 is the one I question in some companies. Rule No. five is speed sells. Sometimes you have to take time to find out what the customers want. Sometimes is best to slow down to speed up. Companies have to be sensitive to the customer needs. Customers have needs and sometimes need time to make a decision.

Ilene Sorensen,

Remember to add comments about your discussion with colleagues. This was a bit short. I would agree with you on Rule 5.
