Anyone knows a safe small town in the San Francisco bay area?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I don't want to get stuck in y2k in a big city here. Any safe haven in or near San Francisco Bay Area? I have heard Brentwood and Lake county mentioned by friends. Anyone know the closest safe town(s) with stores, water well within 1-2 hours drive from San francisco or the peninsula? Thanks.

Try the Ukaih (sp) area, and go visit the Real Goods solar demostration center up in Hopland about ten miles south along 101. It's about a 1 hour 45 minute drive from the city ... quite rural, protected, and near water.

(i.e. look Northwards)

Suggest getting a map and draw circle l50 miles in diameter and start exploring. If I were you I'd go north.....nicer country. Try Calistoga, Glen Ellen, Kenwood, Saint Helena, Forestville, Healdsburg. These are nice areas...wine country, growing area with water.. Sunshine is here and would be great weekend for a drive..if you can afford the gas these days. Best of luck to you.

anyone know a safe small town anywhere? hmmmm.....Someone posted a remark somewhere, forgot exactly...but it went something like this..."in the old days they used to have a years supply of food put up." (farmers galore) boy are things vunerable. I would think country would be infinitely preferable to city....
