HYDROCAPS for batteries- Best source??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I have the Trace 4024 inverter, and now have twelve Trojan L-16 batteries. I have heard that the "hydrocaps" for batteries are for extra insurance so the batteries are more or less self-watering. Is this so? Are they a good buy? What is the least expensive source? I'm at work now and can't look, but I think there were three caps on each battery? Don't worry folks, I'm getting a real electrician to hook all this stuff up to our main panel, or a new panel with selected circuits!

A search turned up this:

We recommend that Hydrocaps be ordered with the batteries ($8.50 each per cell) - using hydrocaps will reduce water consumption by 80-95% and reduce maintenance.

Hope this helps.
