Field Medicine Update #1 From: Seraphima@aol.com

Dear Friends,

Tentative dates for the workshop are either Friday, Saturday and Sunday June 4, 5, and 6. OR Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 3, 4, and 5. Classes typically run 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a break for lunch.

What we are working on now is getting a place to have the classes in. Once that is set up, you will be notified regarding formal registration. If you can help with finding a site for the class, please contact me ASAP. Thanks.

Please begin at this time to do homework. Some books follow:

Where There Is No Dentist, by Murray Dickson. If you are not familiar with dental practices, tools and materials, this is must reading.

Where There Is No Doctor, by David Wesner. This book gives a good overview of low-tech medicine, and especially of sanitation, which becomes much more important in the field.

Ditch Medicine, by Hugh Coffee. An essential text.

In addition, please read other books and articles as you feel interested, especially if you have questions about those subjects. Does a person in your family have diabetes? Babies or small children? Are you assembling a first aid kit? Are you concerned about emerging diseases or immunizations? Please pick some topics of interest to research, so that any questions for the instructors can be as informed as possible.

The Elijah Company, www.elijahco.com phone 1-800-2-ELIJAH

logoplex.com/resource/mom This site has a good resources page, with books available. (check prices). One of our possible instructors, Chuck Fenwick, also has done a series of videos on field medicine, available here. His article on Larry Wayne Harris is of interest. ( Harris was recently arrested in Arizona with a vial of live anthrax culture.)
