Can someone explain the meaning of this?

841. "The Church's relationship with the MUSLIMS. 'The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the MUSLIMS; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day.'[LG 16; cf. NA 3.]"

Dear Micheal

The response to this is that the Muslims believe in the God of Abraham wich is the same God the Jews believe in and ultimately it is the God Christians believe in . However unlike the Jewish people and the Muslims they have yet to believe or have it to reveal to them Jesus Christ wich would show them the fulness of God rather than what is revealed to them in the older scripture.

Dear Micheal

Perhaps Chris Butler can answer this question better.

EWH,

Are you saying the Muslums do not believe in Jesus?

This statement clearly describes the RCC's statement of faith and would make any person who truly seeks the truth to turn and run as fast as they can. How can Muslims have the "plan of salvation" without JESUS CHRIST? How can the RCC teach that on one hand you must have christ for salvation and on the other hand you don't! It defies itself! It is the true colors of the RCC-confussion which God has no part in. READ THE BIBLE! The wolves are in the church, run to the true shepard, seek and you shall find...the true infallible word..........THE WORD OF GOD! You're not a dumb sheep as the RCC would like to think you are. Ask and you shall recieve.........the truth! You have a mediator to God ,it is JESUS CHRIST not a priest/pope. You are worthy to speak and repent to God yourself! Ask yourself why would the RCC want to profess their relationship with the Muslims? Do they seek a coalition? Against who? The Jews? Why?Hmmmmmm? Is the answer in the bible?

Rather than arguing the point perhaps we can listen to Christ's statemet of " My Father's House has many mansions. " WE are all made by the same Father and loved equally by Him.

Peace And Well bing.

Michael,

The Catholic Church believes (as stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church) that baptisim is the only way to salvation. The CCC then goes to define that more clearly and teaches that there are ways that those who never hear of Christ or the Catholic Church, or refuse to believe them will gain salvation. One way is through Baptism of the Spirit, which is baptism for someone who truly does search for righeousness and truth but may never hear of Christ.

You should read on from that paragraph and before it as well, the catechism seems to build up, starting with those things that are most important to truly "believe" first. Without acknowledgment of the fact that the Catholic Church is Aposolic and the reasoning behind why it is this way, and the plan behind apostolic succession, and the interpretation and power of interpretation the Church has over the Bible.... then you can pick things out all over that "don't seem to make sense", although the book flows in a fairly logical order.
