What is time between shots on most Digital Cameras?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

What is the time between shots on most of the DC's available today? This is a subject that I rarely see discussed. The time between taking each photo is a very important topic, for example on High resolution if you are shooting images of your kid playing baseball, how long do you have wait from shot to shot?

The time between shots will vary based on the settings of the camera. If you have a compression setting which will make a smaller file, and the resolution low, the time will be shorter that if you have low (or no) compression and higher resolution. In other words, the time the camera takes to store a file is dependent upon the size of the file.

For my Toshiba PDR-M1 it can vary from a few seconds to about 10 seconds.

I am familiar only with my camera and extrapolating from that experience. I don't know if there are clever cameras that might use temporary memory or something to allow faster shooting.

Check out the Minolta EX1500. Burst shot at high resolution.

There are a number of cameras which have a burst mode. You should find that info if you look at the detailed specs for any camera that has it.
