Pretec DC600 problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I just bought a Pretec DC600 Camera a month ago and I have yet to be able to get the camera to connect to my PC. I have been through the hoops with their support guru and I have tested my com ports, verified the proper settings as best that I can, and even been working with my bios mfg to make sure that I am set up properly. When the driver initializes, I get an hourglass on the LCD and the status bar will go to varying stages before giving me a connection broken message, It uses a DB9 style RS232 cable to connect. When I hook up to my VCR it works properly. Is there a history of problems with this camera or with the cable?

Thank you Jim

I didn't have any difficulty connecting in the way you describe, but I find an easier way anyway to transfer from camera to pc is by using Compact Flash memory which can be initialise on the camera and a card reader attached to my pc. It behaves just like a hard disk drive and captures my photos easily and quickly. No fiddling with wires - just handling the memory card and moving it physically between camera and pc. HOPE THIS IS OF USE TO YOU.
