why aren't the new 2+ megapixal cameras (i.e., Nikon 950) coming out with lithiom ion battery capabilities? I am not interested in getting a high resolution camera until that is the case. I currently own a sony trv-900 digital camcorder (with 640x480 still capability) and love the battery life I get. Also, I have a 32mb simple technology compactflash card for my camcorder (still shots). I think it works great with my camcorder. I do not ever see any information regarding this brand of compact flash for still cameras. Is there a known problem with this brand?

I think Nikon made a wise choice when they decided to use standard AA size batteries to power their cameras. The Nickel-Metal-Hydride rechargables are relatively cheap and common. What will you do when you are stuck on a trip somewhere and try to find a special Lithium- Ion battery?

I have got to agree with Dave. AA compatibility is an advantage that cannot be overestimated. I keep a couple of sets of NiMH batteries (one set charged, one set in the camera), and the ability to get spares from a quick mart in emergency is critical when you don't have time to wait for a recharge.
