Paint River outside of Crystal Falls, MI. Just upstream of Horserace Rapids. Canon Elan IIe - 28mm lens at f/16 on tripod. Fuji Velvia. Temperature at the time was -5 degrees F. Perhaps a lower contrast negative film (Reala) would have allowed for more detail in the highlights and shadows.

For me the sky does nothing but pull the eye to the top. The shadows on the snow are the subjetc here.

I personally like this shot. I like the blue sky above as it shows what a crystal clear day it was and explains the blue cast on the snow. Good shot.
