Cecilia,

Sending email is difficult this morning...

Let's meet soon. Are you closer to Wilmington or Hendersonville?

Cecilia:

If you figure it out, or someone helps you, please share the info with me. I have looked at all the state and utility pages and I know nothing more than before. I hear that Gov. Hodges has just appointed a commission on y2k a few days ago.

Cecilia -

You can find state by state information at the Nasire website. SC data was updated on 3/8/99. Keep in mind that this info is self-reported.

Good Luck!

Cecilia,

I live over in Pickens county next to the Oconee Nuclear Power plant....(great place, huh?). I also have not found any reliable info on the state of y2k affairs in SC, nor have I gotten any real info from Duke Power on the status of the Oconee Nuc plant. Of course, just as you did, I've also checked their internet sites and their required filings. Their sites show them progressively completing y2k work, but there is no detailed info. Wish we could get some inside info.....hope you will post if you get more info and I will do same......

Seagreen and Cecilla Glad to see I'm not alone in the Upstate. You might sign on to Russ Kelly's site and get involved in the y2k user group meetings (mostly for business but still worthwhile). If you would email me (yes, the address is real) I'll be happy to give you the details.

As far as who is compliant or nearly there, you probably can guess as well as anyone. Duke says they are now compliant but won't put it in writing. I would worry about the small local utilities such as Greenville Water, Blue Ridge Electric. I HAVE NO INSIDE INFORMATION THAT INDICATES THEY ARE NOT COMPLIANT!!! But experience tells me that everyone is spinning like mad. The truth would probably hurt (at least in court).

Everything I have read and heard indicates that small companies, both public and private, are the most at risk. I sincerely hope so. I would strongly suggest you avoid ALL the local hospitals around the turn of the century. No one has been able to convince me that anything about any of them is compliant (except their billing systems to collect money might be). Hope to hear from you soon.

I would like to thank everyone for responding. Unfortunately, I dont know anymore now than I did before. I will just continue to prepare for the worst and hope I have done enough. Thank you again for taking time to help me. Cecilia
