"I know why Cory Hamasaki needs to stock up on ammo. Little old Mary and about 50 million of her friends are gonna be lookin' for him and you."

Doomslayer, you got it! That's the purpose of this forum: we want 50 million pissed off grandmas waving useless bags of rice and beans in 2000! That's it! That's all we want! Nothing more!

Don't blame me for the stupidity of the DOD in making the decision 40 years ago to use 2 digit years. If you wanted DOD as a customer, like IBM did, you went with their spec. <:)=

Hey, Lisa, did you notice the source of that funny little essay?

Yes, Doomslayer, he's a balanced kinda guy.

Read this, it's hysterical:

Let's add the doomsday life insurance salesmen. Always talking about if I should die unexpectedly. If they really cared they would be selling health food and exercise equipment.

And car insurance companies. They even have the ol government on their side by forcing me to buy insurance to get tags for my cars. Don't they know I am a safe driver.

And let's throw in the home insurance folks that get my business because the mortgage company forces me to have insurance. No choice unless I can pay cash for the home.

How about those weather forecasters? When they say blizzard or tornado, by golly there better be one in my back yard or I'll be upset! How dare they scare me. I'll prepare when they can assure me that me life is threatened and no sooner. Besides, being prepared might alter my lifestyle.

Now let's talk about those rotten y2k folks and programmers. They have forced me, well OK, they haven't forced me to listen. They made me buy food, wood, guns, ammo, . . . . . . well OK, they didn't force me to do that either. Well, I guess I am a dumbed down robot that has no control over my actions. I am unable to make any decisions on my own. I must wait for the gov't or banks or some company to force me to do something. Let's get rid of that Bill of Rights and all shack up with the mama government. Then we won't ever have to think. Just trust.

Why build a house of brick when straw will do?

It sounds to me as if PNG is saying programmers are between a rock and a hard place. They'll either get blamed for allegedly starting the problem in the first place, or they'll be blamed for causing panic by bringing the issue to the public's attention over the last three years.
