Just got finished viewing the y2k family survival guide video hosted by leonerd Nemoy (Spock from star trek) Good video to show to Dgi's family members. I think it handles the y2k too gently but is good to show those who need to be informed in a gentle way, good prepareness tips. But they need to do more in the area of waste disposal. If the sanitation facilities and water go down and every one continued to dump there waste treated with the toilet blue disinfectant down the toilet, we will see the sewer system backflow into people's homes in a matter of days. I highly recommend the deep pit out house approach using lime and microbes to deal with the waste,Or creating tempory external septic systems. The video recommended not using plastic bags I agree they will make disease spread quick. Give lot's of thought to how to get rid of waste now. This may be the most important thing to insuring survial in a post y2k environment. The video says to prepare for 4 weeks of inpaired services, I disagree with this accessment I feel that you should prepare for an indefinite period of services impairment that can last as long as 6 months to a year in duration and when services are restored there will be severe shortages of all goods and comodities lasting for a few years there after. Learn how to grow your own food and store it properly now also learn how to grow sprouts effectively. If y2k is a very bad meltdown these skills will save your life. Also have a 3 tier plan to respond to disruptions. Tier one is a diruption up to 4 week long, tier two is bug out time this means that disruptions are over 4 weeks long and it is time to get to a friend's house in a rural area that you have helped stock in advance. Tier 3 is the war contingency, if an act of war is conducted by any of the other superpowers on US soil or civil war breaks out it is time to go to Tier 3 contingency immediately. This is being highly mobile and going deep into the interior of the mountain country with contacts already in place to help lessen your exposure risks. Final comment don't waste to much time on Dgi's, prepare to help a few neighbors eat the first few weeks then they will have to reap the consequences of their decisions not to prepare.
