Need your recommendations for a new digital camera......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am looking to buy a digital camera and am looking for some recommendations. The pictures I would be taking will be displayed on the web 95% of the time, so printed quality isn't much of an issue for me. I want one with an optical zoom. Would like to spend $500 or less if possible.

Thanks,

Chad T.

How about the canon a5 zoom, smallest camera around.

If I was going to spend about $500, I would most likely go for the Nikon CP700. The CP700 is being sold for $514.95 at NECX. I have bought many items from them, and they have great prices and ship promptly. The CP700 is packed with features, but is missing an optical zoom. If you can live without the optical zoom, you'd be getting your money's worth with the Nikon.

If you want to be under $500, I'd check out the Epson Photo PC700 or the Kodak DC210plus. The Kodak has a 3x optical zoom.

If you haven't purchased your digital camera yet I would look at the Agfa product line. They have just launched a product called the CL30 that sounds very interesting!!
