buying digital means no more purchasing film. you can view any shot you take right away, in the camera, to see if it is what you want. you can erase bad pictures in camera to make more space for more shots. you can manipulate images on your computer, making old people look twenty years younger, or young people older. you can adjust color, tint contrast, or place your subject(s) on a whole new backround, say on a beach or in space, you name it. the higher end consumer cameras give shots as good (or better to me) fom a consumer stand- point, than film. only slightly interested in film cameras, i discovered a whole new world of just plain fun in digital, using a 233 PII lap- top, microsoft "picture it" software and an olympus d400z. i had a kodak dc210 plus, but began loving digital so much i traded up. hope you choose digital, and that it will be as wonderful, fresh experience of discovery that it was for me.

Digital Camera definitely give you more fun to play with. But I should admit DigiCam is not cost effective compared to filmCam, although cost will come down when more people jump in.
