Anyone know the "true" avialability date of the DC240?

On the State Street Discount web site, the availability just moved from 4/6/99 to 5/10/99! Does anyone know if this is true for general distribution, or is it just delayed at State Street?

By the way, if anyone is looking for a good recommendation for an on-line store, check out http://www.necx.com I have purchased a number of items there. The prices are great, and they ship it right out. Also, they send you order status and UPS tracking info. through the e-mail which is a nice touch.

The DC240 has shipped. I looked at one at CompUSA this past weekend and saw about 15 boxes sitting behind the counter. It seemed like a pretty good camera, although I'm certainly no digital camera expert (this is my first one). The LCD was pretty sharp and and the menus were easy to navigate. The camera felt pretty comfortable in my hands, too. The only thing that disappointed me was that the CompUSA guy didn't have a CF card to put in the camera to take a few test shots.

Finding a place online that has them is a little more difficult. Some of the places with lower prices online seem to be getting them later. Two places I called, BuyComp and NecX said they wouldn't receive their shipments until mid-to-late May. A place to check out is www.computersbynet.com (part of MicroWarehouse). They have them for around $580 (it has fluctuated up and down +/- $10) and supposedly will be getting their shipment in on April 5 (according the representative who returned my email). I am anxiously awaiting the full review on this site, but I know I'll end up getting the DC240 anyways.

Mine is in the Fedex Truck for Saturday delivery tommorrow. I bought mine from PC Nation www.pcnation.com for $597.00 and they still had cameras in stock of this writing. Can't wait to get this camera (First Digital Camera Purchase)
