Complementary Methods Chapter One Response "Stranger's Viewpoint" Prepared by Vince Crary March 25, 1999

If a stranger was to observe me in my work place, what he would see would depend upon the time of the year, the day of the week, and the time of day he is observing me. Months when farmers are not busy in the fields are busier in the office. The first days of the week can be hectic due to problems or questions encountered over the weekend. Mornings tend to be busier than afternoons.

If a stranger observes me on a Monday morning in January, he most likely would see me on the phone or with someone who has stopped into the office with a question or problem. In June, on a Friday, I may be observed reading a livestock publication or not in the office at all, as I am out looking at a problem with a producer. Extension work involves such a variety; I don't think there is a typical day to observe me interacting in my office.
