Grooming help

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poodle Support Group : One Thread

We share our lives and home with a 2-3y/o(?) Blue Standard Bitch, whom we acquired from Florida Poodle Rescue. She is now known as Heidi. She is learning to be a member of a warm loving home and is adjusting well. We got Heidi a little over two months ago, and little by little she is coming around to enjoying and understanding petting and baby talk. She is so intelegent and is always elated to see any of the members of her new family upon their return home, or to the office, or wherever she happens to be when she has the opportunity to greet. She is the epitome of Southern Hospitality. I am grooming Heidi and would like to know the best book to purchase on the subject. I have Del Dahl's "The Complete Poodle", but it doesn't give much info on scissoring the topknot, particularly above the ears, for a sporting trim. I would also like to try a modified Dutch clip. I believe that is what it is called. My Monique, whom I grew up with, was clipped in this manner on occasion. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Kindest Regards, Pamela and Heidi Tucker

Hi Pamela and group! I have a copy ofr Shirlee Kalstone's Poodle Clipping and Grooming: The International Reference published by Howell Book House. I think that I ordered it from Barnes and Noble. At any rate, it is a very good source of grooming info including growing and maintaining show coat.

Pam, I am in Florida also- specifically the Tampa Bay area. Do you ever go to the dog parks?
