Nikon950 & Compact Flash

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

The 950 is to ship with an 8mg CF. I have heard that 128mg are available but can't find a web source. Need source location. I agree that a CF Reader(parallel)will be an effective way do download large volume of pix to notebook or desktop. Our office camera uses CF chips and they spec'd (I think) an ATA flavor. Won't ->>any<<-- manufacture of CF memory card work in the Nikon 950?? or are we stuck with using only Nikon's flavor of CF's. Yes, I am planning on buying the 950.

I also plan to buy a Nikon 950 and have been learning a lot from these forums and web sites. I have learned that any Compact Flash (CF) memory card can be used by any digital camera that uses that format. SanDisk, Simple Technology, Microtech Int, Lexar, TDK, are all brands of Compact Flash cards. So far I haven't seen any 128MB CF in the market. The largest I have seen is 64MB. I have noticed that prices vary a lot. Some times about $50 difference for a 64MB card.

Check the following web sites on the Internet. You can get quotes for Compact Flash cards as well as for the Nikon 950.

I noticed that LEXAR http://www.digitalfilm.com/ offers an 80MB CF card.
