Very Convincing Letter, to influence a DGI, neighbor, etc.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I will e-mail a copy to you if you would like. Just send me an e-mail requesting it. It is long, but concise.

The reason I'm doing it this way is becasue I want to retain the format, italics, and bold, and I don't think I can do that yet here in html.

I have included all citations, with URL's and selected excerpts, mainly from the utilities experts. A friend told me she thought it was pretty convincing.

mabel, we haven't put MicroShaft Word on our iMac yet: is that what you used? Will it come through just eMail if that is not what you used for formatting? If it will, please eMail to us. Thanks :-)

Correction, I have Works, but I believe I can format it in several different ways.

Please send me a copy. Thank you very much Louise@yahoo. Down under, there doesn't seem much very visible by way of preparedness info' for us mere mortals, either at a state or council level. State medical people aren't talking - neither is gas co, I asked. Very different from U.S. and U.K, where preparedness info' gets full coverage on television. From my experience, I find that most people just don't believe Y2k will be a problem at all. She'll Be Right is the attitude, and after all, the weather's warm down here.

-- Pamela Lawrence (P_lawrence@hermes.net.au), March 22, 1999.

Please add me to your list. I am in southern Queensland, Australia. Most people think it is nothing but there are a few GIs in the area. Apparently our local emergency services were finally briefed about Y2K a few weeks back. I don't think they have a clue how serious it could be, but at least it now means they are considering that *something* could go wrong... go wrong... go wrongggg...

Me, too! I need all the help I can get in getting our parents to believe us.

Thanks!
