TAXES DONE OWE MONEY !!!. something I learned about Roth IRA's.....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

What a pain in the Donkey !!! If only people really knew we didn't have to pay taxes, they only make it manditory for all of us. But I did find out that you should not turn your original IRA into a ROTH IRA because you will have to pay taxes on the total amount of it.

By changing from a tax free IRA to a ROTH IRA people get real upset in finding out they owe taxes on it. Your broker hasn't told you have to pay taxes on a ROTH IRA ,you better ask him again to be sure ???

Oh,yes there are ways of getting around paying taxes after getting the ROTH IRA but why do it in the first place???

There have been numerous postings about the IRS and all the b.s. related to the tax system.

Couldn't you use ALL your income to help prepare yourselves for Y2K?

Most of you are good little sheeple. IRS says jump, and you go "baa-baa-baa"

I bought a book about the income tax fraud at a preparedness show in 1991. I learned that the present tax system is voluntary. So I decided to no longer volunteer. I was told in the book that a US senator said that the IRS is 90% bluff when they threaten you.

The IRS sent me some bluff letters and I told them they had no jurisdiction. I did not even show up for an audit! The US tax court dismissed the case for lack of jurisdiction! Why do you think the US tax court is located in Washington DC and not in every state? Because they do not have jurisdiction in ANY state!!!The last I heard from the IRS was in 1994. I'm still a free man, never been in prison!

I must interject an important fact here, apart from all the griping about the IRS (yes, I think they ream everyone, too!)

With the Roth IRA, if you converted it in the calendar year 1998, you can take the total amount you converted, divide it by 4, and report THAT figure on 1999's return. In other words, if you did it in 1998, you can spread out the amount over 4 years. So if it all goes kablooey in 2000, basically you will probably only ever report (and thus get taxed on) 25% of your total Roth IRA.

So maybe that will calm you down a bit.
