Titanic hotel in Las Vegas

In a stunning example of life imitating art (in this case, Dan Dalton's April Fool's Day posting last year), there are real plans to build a Titanic-themed hotel and casino in Las Vegas.

A 1000-room hotel is to be built on the site of the Thunderbird Hotel in the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. The existing Thunderbird Hotel is owned by Las Vegas developer Bob Stupak, who is proposing the ship-shaped building. City officials said they hope the resort will help revitalize the north end of the Strip, which houses older, smaller properties.

The "ship" will cost more than $300 million, according to the Las Vegas Journal, which quoted unnamed sources. That amount is much less than the other new properties opening on the Strip this year at costs of more than $1 billion.

In 1980 I also predicted the demise of the Soviet Union before the end of the century. And last year I predicted Bill Clinton's removal from office before the end of his second term. Still hoping for THAT one. I'm just glad my dream to create THIS ... this "information superhighway", if you will, that we now all know as the "internet" (with much hard work on my part) came to fruition that I might presage this Las Vegas Titanic thing. Of course, that damned Al Gore took credit for it all. As I KNEW he would after I took him aside for a chat during that fundraiser at the Buddhist monastery....
