White LEDs, bulk-purchases, and a webpage of drivers...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Greetings from the OddOne!

As you probably know, I've offered to coordinate a purchase of white LEDs directly from the manufacturer so that we all can get bulk pricing. Part of this post is directed at the folks that responded to the offer, and part of it is for everyone else.

For everyone else, I'm sorry to say that the opportunity to get into this purchase of a large batch of LEDs has expired; I can't accept any addition people at this time. If the process goes well, though, I might be tempted to do it again in a month or two. So don't give up hope on getting the Nichia white LEDs for as little as $1.60 per.

For the people that jumped on the offer, I sent out totals already. If you didn't get your totals with info on where to submit payment and all that jazz, please E-mail me a.s.a.p. as my GarbageCities, er, GeoCities E-mail account has been active weirdly as of late and may have blocked the sends. Tell me you haven't gotten totals and I'll resend using one of my other E-mail addresses that appears to be working properly.

One last tidbit... I threw together a basic page with a couple LED driver circuits all diagrammed out on GarbageCities. You'll have to kill that annoying popup ad that they insist on including (I wish these people would finally admit that NOBODY waits to see the pop-up ad load anymore and deep-six 'em altogether...) but there's enough basic circuitry there to get the job done. Naturally if anyone has any ideas on things to improve the page's accuracy or new schematics they've tried and found useful, please let me know. Here's the URL:

OddOne, who's already plotting what to do with his hundred or so white LEDs...

Argh!

Dreamweaver has a bad habit of complicating copy and paste operations by tacking HTML tags onto plain text... Let's try that link again...

Maybe now it'll work right...
