A little question for Norm about Rent-a-Car?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Norm you posted a thread that stated Rent a Car reservation systems are compliant, ok no problem. Ever heard of Cendant IT? They own a mainframe that runs several of the large rent-a-car companies. Is Cendant compliant, try again. If you rent a car to a customer and then try to modify the credit card to a new card with expiration date of 2000 or later, no can do, you will have to use another card. There are many other things that don't work and some of them have to do with reservations. Wish I could say more but I need my job. Seek and ye shall find.

Do you have any documentation?

"Norm you posted a thread that stated Rent a Car reservation systems are compliant,"

ooooo, now there's a life and death situation....... right up there with VCRs, microwaves, and drip coffee makers... I just HAVE to make reservations to rent a car..... hospital equipment and traffic lights be DAMMED! There is proof that systems don't work. Programmers have been hired by the tens of thousands to fix them. Where is the proof that the critical infrastructure is compliant? I don't want a damn car rental. I want COMPLIANCE from something, anything that MATTERS.
