Canon PowerShot Pro70 - Macro Mode Imaging of Rare Books

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Dear Forum,

I am trialing a camera at the moment for taking images of rare books that are not suitable for flat bed scanning. I chose the PowerShot Pro70 due to the sharpness, clarity and colour of the images.

I find that with the test images taken so far, there is a feathering occuring in the letters, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about this. I'm interested in whether anyone has been involved in photographing books and manuscripts for presentations on the web. What sort of lighting do you suggest, etc.

Being, new to this, I would appreciate any help. Thankyou.

Sincerely,

Gionni

Text can be hard to capture. Try to take an image as close to the actual display size as possible, so that you will not have to reduce or enlarge the image, thus limiting the feathering in the display.
