Reynosa Mexico----AllTexas News 3/11/99

NAFTA, Borders 21, and American heritage Rivers Initiative are all falling into place now.

On Tuesday our reporters followed up on leads about U.N. personnel stationed at the United States-Mexican Border. Upon arriving in McAllen, TX we began to follow leads and make contacts with our sources. Ready to get on the move, we jumped into the a truck and headed for the Mexican Border about 10 minutes due south of McAllen. We arrived at the busy border crossing at Hidlago Texas/Reynosa, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and parked on the US side of the border.

We trekked on foot across the international bridge. It did not take us long to find what we came to find: United Nations personnel complete with UN symbol and blue beret.

A United Nations truck sat close by but without the usually large UN painted on the side. One must wonder why they are there. Is it to protect Mexico from unseen threat or is it a direct threat to the sovereignty of the United States? We were there to find out.

American-educated Mexican Federal Police Officer Enrique Santa Maria Guerrero says The UN has been here for months. But he doesn't know why. They sit in our building, smoke and do nothing but watch us. When questioned about why there were stationed in Reynosa, Officer Enrique says: "It's NAFTA. We were told in the summer of last year the UN observers would be coming, and now they seem to be here to stay. We don't need UN men on our border, we need UN Men to watch our elections!!!"

Enrique continued: "Each shift fills out a report which we are not allowed to see.

Others in the city of Reynosa have other problems with the UN personnel. "They don't have to abide by our laws." says Armando who is a senior bartender at a nearby bar and cantina. "They come here in the evenings and order us around but never leave tips. They urinate on the bathroom walls. No one likes to serve them. I have been told they are here because of Clinton and the New NAFTA program. I haven't seen any good effects from NAFTA yet. My country is still poor and we always will be poor, El Presidente sells out to anyone with Money. UN, Drug Dealers it don't matter."

On the US side of the border all seems quite until you look a little harder at the towns people in Hidalgo and McAllen.

Donald, an, aircraft mechanic at McAllen Airport who would not reveal his last name stated: "The UN guys have been over there for months and months. You mean to tell me that the news media is just now aware of this?: Donald was incredulous, "Hell they have landed planes here for fuel. They won't buy fuel on the mexican side of the border. They have never been unfriendly, but something tells me not to trust them. They are not Americans, I can guarantee you that. Most appear to be Europeans, most all have heavy accents."

Donald also believes that although no UN trucks or any uniformed men have been spotted on the Texas side of the border, it is common knowledge that many of the UN personnel stay at the McAllen Holidome.

Donald says: "Go there and ask them for yourself what they want"

Tomorrow: PART II More snooping on the UN.

Why are we concerned if UN troops are here? I posted this thread because I had read the earlier thread and thought it might be of interest to some. UN troops seem to be everywhere, is there concern when they are on US soil?

-- Linda A. (adahi@muhlon.com), March 13, 1999.

I was tempted to forego replying, asking myself why waste the time with someone who sees nothing wrong with an international force spending time on our sovereign soil. Are you for real, Linda? Or have you been so propogandized that you see nothing wrong with UN forces up to some as yet unknown mischief here. The simple facts is, Linda, they have no business here and they do not belong here. Just call me an old- fashioned American and Texan.

And not necessarily in that order.

...and people like Sysman wonder about the credibility of this forum. Paranoid, nonsensical, xenophobic nonsense. If you believe this is true, what possible credibility could you have about a real issue like Y2K?

-- Y2K Pro (no@y2krackpots.com), March 13, 1999.

You've just posted a message on this forum, Y2K Pro. Bad move. Looks like your opinions on Y2K don't have credibility anymore either. :-)

-- (one@of.us), March 13, 1999.

Sysman doesn't wonder about the credibility of this forum so much as he wonders about the credibility of some of its posters... you, for instance. While there is no parallel or connection between UN troops on the border and Y2K, there is a thread which connects federal government activities that reek of treason with obfuscation and disinformation; to wit, tacit approval of UN presence and attempts to deceive the American people where Y2K is concerned.

-- Vic (Roadrunner@compliant.com), March 13, 1999.

It is comments like these there is a thread which connects federal government activities that reek of treason with obfuscation and disinformation; to wit, tacit approval of UN presence and attempts to deceive the American people where Y2K is concerned. that make the mainstream look at this forum and wink "someones wearing the tinfoil helmet..." Guess who that might be Vic?

-- Y2K Pro (no@y2krackpots.com), March 13, 1999.

Y2KPro::::::> Perhaps, in 100 words or less, you could suggest an inocent reason for the presence of the above mentioned troops? Oh, one more thing, do try to see to it that the postulate covers the question, not the questioners.

Psst, Looney. They're aren't any troops. Please take your medication

-- Looney Stomper (Q@s????????.com), March 13, 1999.

My friend's husband is with law enforcement in West Texas. He says ostensibly the buffer zones are to protect ecology, environment, water, etc. But actually it's to halt the hoard of illegals crossing the border. Even with all the money spent on border surveillance, it's iimpossible to secure such a vast area from illegals and drug trade. If y2k crashes infrastructure in Mexico, they expect a massive exodus. If that is the case, some might be happy to have UN troops on American soil. But having lived in Texas, I'd say it's unlikely..

Linda,

Yesterday I poked around the United Nations web-site checking different information and Im not coming up with anything to confirm, or deny, this.

Doesnt mean its not there, Im just not finding it. It may take some time for alternate confirmation from other sources, if real.

Vic, I can ask a question and learn or remain silent and igornant. You had the opportunity to teach or share your knowledge. You chose to impart ridiclule and sarcasm. Thank you for your words of wisdom. The have very little value to me.

One of the things I enjoy about this forum is the opportunity to learn form others with more experience and knowledge. I have learned so much in the past months since I have been visiting here. The discussions give me much food for thought. Many of the posters I hold in high regard.

If we are belittled by asking questions the questions will cease. Once the questions stop, so will the sharing of knowledge.

What an interesting concept...U.S. and UN troops throughout the world. But UN troops anywhere near the U.S. is, well, well...That's different! We certainly can't have that.

[Thousands die every year from tribal warfare in 3rd world country--send in UN peacekeeping forces. Thousands die every year in violent American cities--keep out UN peacekeeping forces...we're Americans (and Texans).]

Active duty U.S. troops, under the UN flag as peacekeepers, certainly gets around the legal restriction of posse comitus(sp?).

-- PNG (png@gol.com), March 14, 1999.

I don't believe there's any reason for U.N. troops to be anywhere in the world... matter of fact, I don't believe there should be a U.N. Having U.S. soldiers posing as U.N. peacekeepers doesn't make an end-run around posse comitatus, not as long as there's a Constitution, and Americans around to defend it.

I sometimes forget that you chose to live in Japan, a land where the police visit everyone unannounced, twice a year, for a "home inspection". A land where the conviction rate approaches 99% because the police are tacitly allowed to inflict torture on those charged with a crime. A land that's had it's people's dreams of freedom snuffed out long ago.

Then a post like this reminds me of it.

-- sparks (wireless@home.com), March 14, 1999.

Ooh boy, It's xenophobic arrogance like the above that sometimes makes me ashamed to be an American and reminds me why so many people hate us. Grow up.

-- Norm (nwo@hotmail.com), March 14, 1999.

Grow up and wake up yourself, norm. I don't care for the Japanese hive mentality and way of life, I like living free. I'm an American, not a member of a disarmed slave population as exists in Japan. The reason America is hated so thoroughly by most of the world is because we are always sticking our nose where it doesn't belong, claiming "American interests are at stake", or some similar crap, and that's just what we do out in the open...

-- sparks (wireless@home.com), March 15, 1999.

A few facts:

Japanese police and fire departments visit new residents and make regular visits to make sure they know:

--How many people live in the house.

--Are there any elderly, disabled or children who may require special evacuation or are unable to respond to a fire alarm, earthquake, or warnings of typhoons or tsunamis.

--They offer to inspect your home for fire safety and offer advice on the best evacuation route (which window or door) in case of an earthquake or fire. They inspect your fire extinguisher and provide a helpful checklist of suggested emergency supplies.

--A walking tour of the area is conducted to show their new associates the best access routes, upper story alternate access from adjacent buildings and so on.

I welcome them, offer them tea, thank them and hope they remember my hospitality in case I need their help. It never dawned on me that they were doing something sinister. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll shoot them next time they knock at my door.

Tah quote Christopher Robin, PNG, "OH BOTHER"

Yore skin ain't that thin!!!!

We BOTH know you've been around the Forum Block a few times.

BTW You happen to be a bit closer to the situation than I am::::

What the @#$% is up in Indonesia that the gov't owns 7 banks and closed 30? Assuming I have the right rim country.

And DAMN I'm sorry we never got published.

Guess #1--Could you dareto beam me up? A tally-ho or no-joy will do.

-- PNG (png@gol.com), March 16, 1999.

You couldn't shoot them if you wanted to, PNG... heck, you're not even so much as allowed a samurai sword over there. That's my whole point.
