Just thinking if we got rid of the regionalism and created a Canadian board it would be a better common forum EH? Any comments? This is really a global problem now and Canada is just a part. The idea is to make it a part that works. Must say though, the Ontario press is the only ones writing about the problem much. We have a lady here at the daily that has GOT IT. So it helps. By the way the Army was in Victoria

DONE! We agree although more local Y2K sites need to be available for citizens to use for local contingency planning.

I am amazed at how many Canadians laugh this problem off! In 1998 I lived through the effects of El Nino in Peru, South America. At the same time many Canadians lived through the devastating effects of the ice storms in Ontario & Quebec. Have people forgotten this? It is so simple to prepare for Y2K. For a long time now I have been shopping at Home Hardware to buy Kerosene Lanterns & other survival products. Now Canadian Tire offers Kerosene Heaters at a cheap price. It is funny how Canadians prepare for a natural disaster but when humans make a computer mistake they do not prepare. What's the problem? Personnaly, I can survive for a long time without a shower or electrity. My parents grew up in the Prairies without electricity until their late teens.

Let's ALL do everyone a favour & prepare the best we can for every kind of circumstance!

Sincerly,
