Rural Utilities complain of Senate Report, but why don't they answer a simple question?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

In response to the the Senate Report about "1,000 small, rural electric utilities", the NRECA replied:

"Electric cooperatives from all over the country have called in expressing amazement or disbelief at news reports calling into question electric reliability in rural areas, "said Ron Greenhalgh, chief engineer for NRECA in a PRNewswire release dated Feb. 26. Greenhalgh added that the "nation's co-ops are right on schedule with remediation of the Y2K problem."

But so far, no reply to this question back to NRECA:

"Subject: Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure Date: Thu, 04 Mar 1999 07:16:25 -0800 From: Bill Spengler To: nreca@nreca.org

Dear Mr. Greenhalgh,

Where can we see the results of your progress? I cannot find them on the NERC database at the following location:

see ftp://ftp.nerc.com/pub/sys/all_updl/docs/y2k/ and click on Janurary1999.xls then click on the sheet labled db

If you have NRECA results posted elsewhere on the internet, please tell me where to find them. Y2K is too serious a matter to accept official pronouncements without factual evidence.

I applaud NERC for making their database available to the public. If they are not making your NRECA data available, I hope you will provide access as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Bill Spengler Springfield, Virginia"
