Just heard on the radio news that Sony is laying off 17,000 and closing some plants.

Very smart move by Sony. The restructuring of the company is the real news. Sony hasn't lost competitiveness Richard, they're actually ahead of the pack in total corporate thinking and have redefined the market for others to follow. If you asked 100 young university graduates in Japan who they would most like to work for, I think 60-70 would say Sony.

PNG - Nice to hear from you again, yes I'm glad they haven't lost it, i was beginning to think so, I just remember years ago when their TV receivers (ie CRTs) were so much better than the opposition

Good to see your words again Richard. Too busy here...Today was just like everyday lately. I left the house before 7AM and just got in the door now (it's 10 PM GMT +9) I'm getting too old for this stuff. Sony jumped 9.5% today. If we can get about 10 other big guys to do the same restructuring, we might be able to bottom out soon.
