Y2K and survivalist retailers

Is anyone aware of a link to people discussing their experiences with mail-order/internet retailers of items of the sort discussed on this board?

I would think that by now there has been established a place where people write in to say "I had very good service from this one" or "I was gypped by that one" or "It's been so many weeks and I still haven't received the merchandise from the other one".

But I haven't come across it yet. Any suggestions?

I ordered seeds from Seeds Blum back in December. They were supposed to come in Jan or Feb. I called them a few days ago and got a msg saying their vmail box was full. Cruised the website- no special notices. Found and called another number, and was able to leave a msg. No reply. Anyone care to recommend a source for non-hybrid seeds?

Thanks,

Glitchproof was good on oxygen absorbers. Tom Villeneuve at New England Storehouse was good on Family Grain Mill which I had him ship COD since he doesn't (or at least didn't) take credit cards. He also deals in Alladin lanterns, but I am not going to buy a fancy lantern.

Non Hybrid Seeds can be purchased from Emergency Essentials in Orem, Utah. They have a website. Just do a search and you will find them. I just bought a can full of various seeds for about $18.

Try Ready Made Resources. I have personaly spent thousands there. Great outfit, ask for Bill. There phone # 1-800-627-3809. There prices are low and the service is excellent. They take CC's and COD. Spend the $5 and get there catalog. Food (dehydrated) has a 4 week delivery time, as of 2 weeks ago. No, I do not work for them. I am just a very satisfied customer, and highly reccomend them.

Storetite.com does a real nice job of shipping on prediction and the mill is great. The seeds are as advertised but are branded Provident Pantry with a better price from Storetite. Didn't make sense to me either.

Lehman's service, in person is unbelievable. No question too stupid (a minor miracle, you'd understand if you'd shopped with me), always right up front about shortages, delays, shipping times etc.

Course, I now know the way there better than the way to my mother-in- laws'.

foggy (Mrs.Driver insists the spelling should be fogey!! LOL darkly)

I ordered Samples for powder milk and milk products from Maple Island (1-800-369-1022) and recieved it 4 days later. Their milk I sampled (2% and regular) are fantastic (as powdered milk goes) and it's on my list of bulk things to order. Haven't go around to taste the powdered cheese yet. Don't think they have a webpage.

I ordered a Petromax lamp a month ago through their webpage (had gotten an ordered confirmation on the webpage at that time), I have not recieved it yet nor heard from them even via e-mail.

Thanks for your responses.

Apparently there is no page regarding customer experiences, so I will plan the beginning of each month to ask for folks' experiences of the previous month.

We received seeds from Heirloom Seeds in Pennsylvania (I think). Their website is:

www.heirloomseeds.com

We're sprouting them now, with 10 varieties of tomatoes, 6 melons, 4 lettuce, 2 onions, and heaven knows what else. Everything is coming up fine, except the sweet peppers.

We've since heard that many peppers don't like plastic trays, so we're trying again with clay.

Heirloom Seeds - outstanding prices & fast service Pinetree Gardens - also outstanding prices & fast service C. Crane (radios, lanterns, etc.)- will price match, service is good Sproutpeople - excellent prices & fast service U.S Plastics - outstanding prices & fast service Homestead Products - outstanding prices, nice folks, good service. Atlantic Spice - outstanding prices, fast service.

Lehman's - good prices, nice folks, but they are overwhelmed with orders (and this was back in September/October of 1998!)

Sherry's Storehouse - she gets much of her product from Walton's, good luck getting a ship date.
