Does anyone have any information on any plans for a Preparedness Expo in Charlotte NC area or Atlanta area? We evidently missed the ones that did occur. If you know of any upcoming events, please post!! Thanks

Well,

The organizer of the Seattle Year 2000 Expo and upcoming San Jose, CA April 7-9, 1999 one is ...

http://www.y2kexpos.com

They are also organizing:

Atlanta, Georgia June 10-12, 1999

Portland, Oregon August 12-14, 1999

Maybe they keep tabs on other Y2K Expo events?

Sarah, I haven't heard about an expo yet. Was wondering about it too. If you are interested though there is a "Meeting Our Y2K Challenges Together" at the National Cathedral this coming Thursday, March 11, 1999, 9 am to 5 pm. You have to register and you have the following options: FAX: (202) 537-2160 Web:

http://www.c athedral.org/cathedral/events/y2k.html

E-mail: registrar@cathedral.org Phone: (202) 537-2221 The Agenda is as follows: Morning Plenary Session 9 am to 12:30 pm An Interfaith Call to Community Q and A with John Koskinen Keynote: The Amazing Grace of Y2K Margaret Wheatley -- An exploration of the Y2K problem as a call to honor our interdependence, guided by this visionary organizational consultant. Panel: What Might We Face? An outline of possible problems and scenarios from local and national experts, including: Don Evans, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Suzanne Peck, D.C. Government Chief Technology Officer Steve Davis, Coalition 2000. NOTE: You have to indicate which two workshops you'd be interested in attending. I have registered and plan to attend the Public Safety and Organizing Your Neighborhood workshops. Today there is a "National Y2K Symposium" at the National Cathedral, of which I found out about too late. I noticed that Rick Cowles is speaking and was wondering if he would be reporting back on any summations that he might have.

The Preparedness Expo I went to was a lot of fun. Lots of dried food vendors, etc. Some prices were good. A good place to buy stuff like pails of wheat to avoid the expensive shipping charges. Lots of Bible-thumpers. Bizarre foods and medical devices. Some really neat portable wood cookstoves. A militia group was recruiting. Alltogether, a real trail mix. I planned to spend an hour and stayed there all afternoon.
