LONDON (AP) - Stanley Kubrick, director of ``2001: A Space Odyssey'' and ``Full Metal Jacket,'' died Sunday at his home, his family said. He was 70.

Officers were summoned to Kubrick's rural home north of London on Sunday afternoon, said police in Hertfordshire, where he was certified dead. ``There are no suspicious circumstances,'' police said.

Kubrick's family announced his death, and said there would be no further comment.

Kevin, I've got a couple wavs in my collection from 2001, but not that one...thanks. Have you got: "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."? Let me know I can email you a copy.

I'm gonna use Daisy for Windoze 98 lite closing wav. Fitting.

Also brought The Shining to us...

Think, that may well be a common scenario post-Y2K in frozen regions......

I didn't see any posts about the passing of Carlos Hathcock last week. That man was a realist. And a survivor.

nine,

I am sorry to hear that Carlos is gone. Thank you for delivering the sad news.

We need more men who know and do their duty however gruesome it might be.

Did Kubrick ever finish "Eyes Wide Shut"? They were doing all sorts of reshoots last year and it seemed that they'd never get it in the can. Finished or not, that will be his last statement in film.

An immense talent. Made the most literate (and my second favorite, behind "Ben Hur") epic ever, "Spartacus", along with many other great films like "Paths of Glory", "Dr. Strangelove", and of course "2001" and "Clockwork Orange".

One of the greats.
