Don't fear the gov't so much..FEAR THIS~!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The underlying theme of all this survival talk about y2k is that

WE ARE ALL AFRAID OF DEATH AND DYING....and all the cans of tuna

in the world will not prevent the eventual arrival of The Grim Reaper.

but.....

And FEAR NOT THEM which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him (JESUS CHRIST) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

He who has ears to hear, let him hear...

This is the fourth religious post I've read in a row. Revelations, Jesus the whole bit. That's it--I'm out of here. I'm not interested in apocalyptic, final judgment superstition. I don't recall Yourdon's book being overly concerned with the supernatural. Flame away; it won't be the first time I've been burned here.

As far as death. I'm not worried; as the old joke goes, no one gets out of here alive anyway. I'm just interested in watching such an interesting time unfold.

gilda,

I will be sorry to see you go.

Not for everybody :-)

We are not afraid at all of death and dying. If the Lord were to appear before me right now and hand me His choice of Death on a silver platter, oh! how I would go for it!

And we certainly do not fear that blessed Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ, at all -- He who so lovingly has taught us how to live, move, work and breathe in the presence of Death, amongst grieving people.

"O Christ, beloved Son of God! Thou didst embark on a storm-tossed sea of prejudiced minds. Their cruel thought waves lashed Thy tender heart.

Thy trial on the Cross was an immortal victory of humility over force, of soul over flesh. May Thine ineffable example hearten us to bear bravely our lesser crosses.

O Great Lover of Error-Torn Humanity! In myriad hearts an unseen monument has arisen to the mightiest miracle of love -- Thy words: "Forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Mayest Thou remove from our eyes the cataracts of ignorance, that we see the beauty of Thy message: "Love even thine enemies as thyself. Sick in mind or asleep in delusion, they are still thy brothers."

O Cosmic Christ, may we, too, conquer the Satan of dividing selfishness that prevents the gathering in sweet accord of all men in the one fold of Spirit.

As Thou art Perfection, yet wert crucified, teach us not to resent the inevitable tests of life: the daily challenge to our fortitude by adversities, our self-control by temptation, and our goodwill by misunderstanding.

Purified by contemplation on Thee, innumerable devotees perfume their lives with emanations from Thy flower soul. O Good Shepherd! Thou leadest Thy countless flock to the evergreen Pastures of Peace. ... "

The thing to fear about Y2K is the violent reaction of masses lied to and betrayed and unprepared.

And hazmat spills, explosions, nuclear war, terrorist attacks, etc. -- all the disgusting opportunistic evils crawling out from under the rocks hurling their vicious agendas.

It is so simple.

I believe we have all faced our own mortality and made our peace with our God or whoever we believe in. That's part of the psychological preparations we have to make since we don't know what can be precipitated by y2k. Be it a nuclear attack, bioterrorism,a raging mob, a lone sniper or something more common like an automobile accident.

Whatever your religious beliefs may be, accepting your own mortality will lower the stress level and let you prepare for what you CAN control.

I guess I am just a fatalist ? I believe when my time comes, it comes and there is nothing to be done about it. But until it does come, I'll just keep plugging away preparing myself and loved ones to withstand as much as possible for as long as possible.

GILDA::

Please don't pitch the baby with the bath water. If you have a discomfort with religious posts, then when you find one, hit the BACK button and go to the next post, the way I do with Jimmy.

TRUTHTELLER::

It ain't death I'm afraid of. Been there, nearly did that, found out it don't hurt much at all. BUT, I DID resolve not to gothere real soon again. Besides, I have made my peace, done my accepting, and have my assurances. I most gear being stupid enough to choose to do something which will shame me in front of my Lord.

Chuck, scratch me not too deply and you find the Christian

What are you afraid of?

Fear!

Or the fear of fear!

Take it easy! We win!

-- Mark Hillyard (foster@inreach.com), March 06, 1999.

What I fear most are lunatic bible thumpers like this, they don't think rationaly and that is dangerous.

Gilda, just handle those posts like troll posts. I just skip them over.

Truthteller, you need to go over Pastor Chris' site and ask him for guidance, you need it.

-- Chris (catsy@pond.com), March 06, 1999.

Thanks Chris I concur! Don't want anyone knowing what we know.

For Christian kinda guys only! All others keep out! And that means you Khazar, fake!

-- Mark Hillyard (foster@inreach.com), March 06, 1999.

If Jesus Christ is the kind of God that destroys both body and soul in hell then I don't care to know this God of yours. I think the person you are speaking of is an evil force, and you are an evil person. P.S. Anyone who leaves this forum because some religious nut does not practice common sense, will be like a branch in the wind.

-- Wisetoyou (Wisetoyou@wiseone.com), March 06, 1999.

Chris, don't you see the irony here? The title of this thread is a paraphrase of gilda's favorite litany. What a disappointment that must have been!

-- Wisetoyou (Wisetoyou@wiseone.com), March 06, 1999.

And you are exactly correct! Give the man the keys to the Kingdom!

I have studied the Scriptures for decades and can not find a place for the hell fire and damnation these guys throw around. Trouble, yes, but not goofy stuff people throw at you. You are very perceptive and I thank you for your post!

All Christians move to Pastor Chris's Forum @

If you can do the linky thing I (and God) would appreciate it.

truthteller; I understand that in order to leave this lifetime "You need change for the Bus " Now if the ATM's don't work because of no electricity ,then no money. Quite simple really !!! Furie...

Furie, does that mean I can't phone home?

Brother Mark, give it a rest with the "link thingy."

Chris.....".I just skip them over. "

Please explain to this hard poling (rowing?) shade, how you skip this type of thread, And are still able to respond? Are you also a shade? Or just your remarks shaded? I think that maybe I can see thru you.

-- Charon (Thatplace@downbelow.com), March 07, 1999.

To MARK:

"all Christians move over to Pastor Chris Forum", sir, may I ask who made you the Leader of this forum? Freedom of speech has been addressed here on several threads. Christian or not, what gives you the right to tell those who are to go elsewhere? And lastly, are you God's spokesman? That is what you said. You and God would appreciate it. I did not post here for along time although I've been here long before you arrived. It is those like you who prevent new ones who may or may not be Christians from staying. Please do the honorable thing and apologize.

Sincerely, ----consumer
