Flash cord doesn`t work with ELAN/100 & 430EZ flash

My flash cord doesn`t work properly with the ELAN/100 & 430EZ flash. My prints are underexposed or the flash does not go off. The readings in the view finder says the flash is ready. It is a Canon flash cord and worked properly with the first roll of film except for one or two pictures. Today over have of the pictures are under exposed. I tryed using a pencil eraser on the contacts with no success. The Canon flash cord is two foot long with no external power source. Would you recommend I buy a flash cord with an external power supply? Kenneth P. Ruble

The Canon off camera flash cord works fine (unless it is broken!). Make SURE that it is FULLY seated at both ends of the cord. It's not hard for one end to work loose, especially if you are moving the flash around.
